Our Flying Lotus Layer3 show made an appearance on the brand new Apple TV Ad - “History of Sound”. Even cooler is we used our electricity visual from the HyperCube for the front screen content. Epic particle explosions by Strangeloop.
Flying Lotus appeared only as a pair of glowing sunglasses on Friday, delivering his You’re Dead Tour performance from inside a shadowy “Hypercube,” a booth where the visionary producer had dazzling splashes of animated color, shapes and characters projected across the surface. The effect inside the Mojave tent was like a post-modern kaleidoscope to accompany his fusion of stuttering beats, electronics, jazz, noise and more, with a bit of Drake’s “Know Yourself” tossed in for artful deconstruction. The visuals enhanced rather than distracted from the sonic exploration (unlike the unfortunate cube OutKast brought last year to Indio), and left both eyes and ears craving more.
Another previs I supplied to the client showing content integration. These were the very first 3D designs I produced for the led array. Figuring out how the hell to even design content for an led cube was a crazy process. I developed a damn efficient system in C4D. By showtime my team and I had over 300 patterns at our disposal. And we’re creating even more for #coachella week 2. Shouts out to @kyttenjanae, my young apprentice :) #djsnake
These past months have been the busiest of my entire life. Back in January I was given the opportunity to create a brand new show for @djsnake. I produced and directed a totally new show using an array of LED sticks, creating a 3D visual barrage where objects appear to “float” in mid air. If you were at Coachella then you might have seen my creation. Crazy…I premiered 2 shows this year at #coachella. What you see here is a previs animation illustrating representational content integration. It’s the only way to properly visualize what content looks like for a concept stage. #quantumbliss
A concept stage mock-up I designed with my brotha @strangelooptv. Don’t know if this will ever see the light of day but was heaps of fun modeling. Makes me think of a strange amalgamation between Avatar and Ferngully 😝 Good times #c4d
Calling all visual artists, programmers, and animators! We’re on the lookout for some new custom content for our @flyinglotus hypercube show. Would love to see your work. Plz send me any links to your websites, reels, renders, etc!
I first thought of you in an airplane on the way to a gig in upstate New York. I remember when you were just a 3d drawing in Cinema4D. @pangeaultima made a miniature of you while you were still being created. And now you’ve been fully realized.
Atlanta is in for a special treat tonight. Gonna test out our new projection mapped show, ‘Layer³ (Layer-Cubbed). Pre-production for this show has been my life the past few months. Can’t explain how surrel it feels to be premiering it finally. @strangelooptv @flyinglotus
The first thing fans saw when they walked into Mack Sennett Studios was Michael Jackson. It was already weird, different and startling.
He pointed them to a smoked out, strobed tunnel that led them inside Flying Lotus’s brain.
A dark maze took them to Timeboy’s Shadowplay, a wall that cast moving images on their shadows.
The final room housed 8-foot pieces of album art, a wall of moving images, more impersonators, a Grim Reaper, an Oculus immersion, and a perfectly-curated lineup of Brainfeeder DJs, a string quartet, a jazz band led by thundercattheamazing and, of course, Flying Lotus, who played his album for his fans to hear for the very first time in this lifetime.
3D stage plots and concept designs seem to be my life these days. Farewell to Layer3 version 1. We’re taking the next iteration of the show to a whole new level come next tour and we’re holding the doorway to the multiverse open for you. All is welcome to join us. PS - #youredead #flyinglotus
OMNILITH.2 is an installation conceived by Brainfeeder visualist Strangeloop, and executed in collaboration with his long-time collaborator Timeboy. The installation uses light and mirrors to create a free-floating 3-dimensional column of luminous architecture. Like an exposed nervous system, it pulses and vibrates, morphing into ever-changing, sound-responsive, fields of hypnotic light.

We’re bring back the spirit of the Brainfeeder Sessions by starting a new series of AV events at the Los AngelesDowntown Independent Theater. I’ve got some ideas for a surround sound AV experience–one I’ve been dreaming of doing for a long time.
Flying Lotus Layer 3 - Sydney Opera House - SOLD OUT
Martyn has a new AV show called The Air Between Your Words. We joined forces in Montreal at the Mutek Festival where I operated the massive LED wall and projection mapped a giant blowup heart. XLR8R posted a nice recap here.
Daedelus and Timeboy combine forces to create Chaya - A new Audio Visual Experience
Los Angeles electronic pioneer and monome maverick Daedelus is embarking on his fourth US tour with his Magical Properties imprint, bringing some of LA’s freshest producers with him. Along for the ride are Salva, Two Fresh, Ryan Hemsworth, and Samo Sound Boy. The show includes a stunning live visual component from Teaching Machine and Strangeloop partner Timeboy (aka John King), who helped design and implement the Layer 3 experience for Flying Lotus’ last international tour. King is now collaborating with Daedelus to bring his unique blend of live dance motion capture and immersive C4D motion design to the Magical Properties stage.

Welcome friends and family to the second installment of VERSE (1st) Thursday, brought to you by TreyZilla and Shamanic Sounds. This month I’m stoked to bring you the sounds of Olas, Timeboy, and Enzymes. Timeboy will also be providing his infamous visuals for the duration of the evening.
It’s incredible to finally see the website up and running. It’s been a long process: from conceptualization, implementation, to integration - now it’s almost surreal to see our vision come into fruition.
If you dont know, Teaching Machine is a next-level audio/visual net label founded by Brainfeeder’s Strangeloop. The general desire for this new mechanism is for a non-local network that can help facilitate the innovation of new mind-expanding media forms, assist in gathering resources for creation of visionary art, and nourish collaborative endeavors amongst our community.
Installment fourteen of our podcast series features two West Coast beat luminaries. First up is A/V wizard Timeboy with a mix of psychedelic originals, followed by a mix of lo-fi textual beats by Barefoot Shrubs from the Ana.San collective. Photo by Jeffrey Acciaioli.
